Over 300 business people from across the Sunshine Coast attended the first business networking event to be hosted by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort last night.

The event enabled like-minded business people to expand their networks and raise the profile of their businesses with both potential customers and suppliers.

Sunshine Coast Mayor, Cr Bob Abbot who welcomed guests to the event, said Council recognised the value of such networking events particularly for small and medium enterprises.

“We are proud to host this event which offers Sunshine Coast business people the opportunity to expand their networks and promotes the growth and sustainability of business across the region,” Cr Abbot said.

“The feedback we received from those attending indicates a real demand for more networking events and an appreciation for both the informal and more structured networking activities presented on the night.”

The event attracted business people from across a broad spectrum of industries including financial institutions, hairdressers, health practitioners, retail outlets and tourism operators.

Attendees were given the opportunity to attend a free networking workshop prior to the event to glean a number of tips about ‘Networking vs Notworking’, which was presented by Geoff Butler.
