Do you travel between Maleny, Montville, Flaxton, Mapleton and Nambour? Why not give the Hinterland Connect bus service a go.
Part-funded by your Transport Levy, the trial of this service has been extended until June 26 2015.
Transport Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said council was pleased to support the State Government’s extension of the modified trial of the service.
“Council and Translink have amended timetables for the service during this extension period to ensure it better meets the needs of Hinterland residents,” Cr Baberowski said.
“From Monday, September 1, the service will have better connection times with trains. The timetable improvement means departure times might change by up to 30 minutes, so we’re encouraging all customers to become familiar with the new timetable ahead of its start date.
“In addition this, the council-funded Flexilink on-demand bus services from Kenilworth to Mapleton and Conondale to Maleny have changed to complement the timetable amendments to Hinterland Connect. These changes will also take effect from September 1.”
“We urge people to make use of the improved Hinterland Connect so the State Government can make it a permanent service at the end of the trial period in 2015.
Division 5 councillor Jenny McKay said the extension of the Hinterland Connect service was a great outcome for the hinterland community.
"I’ve worked hard to have this service continued and the community has worked hard as well," she said.
"Now that these timetables have been changed to optimise the service, I’m confident more people will make use of it and it will become one of the most highly-used transport services in the region.
“Passenger numbers really will determine the future of Hinterland Connect so I encourage locals to make use of this excellent and affordable service.”
