Nominate your Aussie hero before it’s too late
  • Wednesday 28 November 2012

Nominations for the 2013 Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards close on 28 December - so don’t miss the chance to recognise and celebrate inspiring individuals, organisations and groups.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said the Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards provide an opportunity to nominate people who have made a contribution to the region and publicly recognise and honour those achievements.

"These Awards encourage all of us to look in our own backyard for the people and the organisations we know work hard, and usually without fanfare, to make the Sunshine Coast a better place," he said.

"These awards acknowledge the unsung heroes, the people who make a difference to our region – we all know someone like that and it is important to nominate them so that as a community we acknowledge and celebrate their contributions.

"I encourage you to take the time and to make the effort to nominate a local Aussie hero before 28 December for the 2013 Australia Day Awards."

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Community
  • Creative
  • Environment
  • Sport and Recreation.

The fifth annual Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards ceremony, at which the winners will be announced by the Mayor, will be held on 25 January 2013.
