Do you want to contribute to conserving and celebrating our cultural heritage?

Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said nominations are invited for membership of the Sunshine Coast Cultural Heritage Reference Group (SCHRG).

“The Council endorsed Reference Group provides strategic advice on preserving and accessing cultural heritage in the Sunshine Coast region and works to raise the profile of cultural heritage,” Cr McKay said.

“They also assist in forming strategic priorities for expenditure of the Heritage Levy.

“The Reference Group consists of representatives of council, museums, historical societies, heritage groups, business, tourism and the community.”

Cr McKay said this important voluntary position is for two years, with an option to stand down after 12 months.

“Interested people should have a demonstrated commitment to cultural heritage and an ability to contribute to the identification of needs and opportunities for the region’s cultural heritage,” Cr McKay said.

“Experience in the heritage sector, business, tourism or marketing would be an advantage.”

Applications close 5pm Friday, March 13. A nomination package including information regarding the role of the Reference Group and selection criteria can be obtained by emailing the Cultural Heritage Services Unit culturalheritage@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au, or visit council’s website.
