Veterans, vintages, classics: they’re all cars – and 250 of them will feature in a special rally event on Sunday at Nambour Showgrounds.
Enthusiasts from across the state are gathering on Sunday (June 2) to celebrate Sunshine Coast Antique Car Club’s 50th anniversary.
“Many of these cars pre-date the Sunshine Coast name itself and hail from a time when the Coast was a collection of farms and holiday homes,” Economic Development (major and regional events) portfolio councillor Jason O’Pray said.
“Cars from the early 1900s will mix with classics from the 50s and 60s, all lovingly cared for by the club’s 250 members,” he said.
“One look at some of these cars can take you back in time to a place you remember well – depending on your age, of course …”
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson will “flag off” the event at 2pm at the showgrounds. Celebrations and events will continue through to Sunday June 9.
The Antique Car Club anniversary meet is one of a number of regional events happening across the Coast in the next two weeks.
