One book, 120, 000 children: one very big storytelling session
  • Friday 21 May 2010

On Wednesday morning over 120,000 children in libraries, schools and childcare centres across Australia will be listening to the same story, at the same time.

Seven Sunshine Coast Libraries will be taking part in the national read-in, which this year features Australian book Little White Dogs Can't Jump, by Bruce Whatley and Rosie Smith, published by HarperCollins.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) each year to promote reading and Australian literature.

Bruce Whatley was also the illustrator of last year's National Simultaneous Storytime storybook, which prompted events at 960 locations around Australia, involving politicians, writers, poets, singers and local celebrities.

Call your local library today for more details or go to Australian Library and Information Association Website.

Participating libraries include:

  • Beerwah
  • Caloundra
  • Coolum
  • Maroochydore
  • Mobile North at the Cooran stop
  • Nambour
  • Noosa
