One of Australia’s finest Spanish guitarists to perform at The J Noosa
  • Friday 14 September 2012

Sunshine Coast Council is pleased to present one of Australia’s finest Spanish guitarists, Andrew Veivers, in a special concert performance at The J at Noosa at 11am on 3 October 2012.

To celebrate the launch of Veivers’ flamenco guitar instructional book and DVD The Rhythm Method, Andrew’s performance is part of an extensive tour of concerts, workshops and master classes throughout Queensland during 2012.

Veivers draws on a wide range of musical influences to evoke the sensual and mesmerising sounds of the Spanish guitar in all of its guises. At venues ranging from the distinguished UK Blenhiem Palace to performances at many of Australia's leading festivals, Veivers has also appeared as a soloist with his various groups (Flamenco Fire, The Saruzu Quartet, Jaleos Flamenco).

Veivers has numerous recording projects to his credit, including his solo debut recording – Jaleos – which was awarded Best Album (Folk, Ethnic and Other) at the Queensland Recording Association’s Sunnie Awards. Andrew is known throughout Australia as both a soloist and for his director, composition and performance roles with Flamenco Fire, Sydney Theatre Company, Woodford Folk Festival and The Saruzu Quartet.

Alongside Veivers’ performance and recording schedule, Andrew has continued his dedication to the teaching of the Spanish guitar. After being on the teaching staff for many years at the Classical Guitar School (Brisbane) and The Spanish Guitar Centre (London), Andrew opened The Spanish Guitar Studio in 1997. Copies of The Rhythm Method: An Introduction to Flamenco Guitar will be available for purchase at the performance.

Cost to attend is $15. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day or in advance by calling The J on 5455 4455, or on line at Sunshine Coast Venues & Events website.

Andrew Veivers is an Australian with a flamenco soul.
