Pathways provide pedestrian peace of mind

Crossing Noosa Drive will be a safer proposition for pedestrians in 2011.

New pathways, kerb ramps and three pedestrian crossings are set to be constructed at the Leslie Drive roundabout; near Allambie Tce; and on Coral Tree Avenue.

Asset Management and Works Portfolio holder, Cr Ted Hungerford said the $312,000 project would be jointly funded by Sunshine Coast Council’s Strategic Pathway Network Program and the State Government’s Cycle Network Program.

"This project will make use of recently upgraded pathways in the area and will improve pedestrian connectivity along Noosa Drive and provide safer crossing points via the construction of refuge islands," he said.

"The works will commence in early 2011 and are not expected to have an impact on traffic in the area."
