Popular Currimundi park undergoes major facelift

The transformation of the old netball courts is what visitors to popular Grahame Stewart Park on Croydon Ave in Currimundi have to look forward to as an early Christmas gift from Sunshine Coast Council.

Division 3 Councillor Keryn Jones said council had consulted with the local community to shape the design of the $134,339 revamped park.

"Community consultation has shown strong support for the creation of the children’s cycling circuit which will replace the disused and run down netball courts," Cr Jones said.

"The track will be about kids having fun while creating an awareness of road rules and conditions at the same time.

"The littlies will love the new track that features interesting elements such as bridges, weaving poles and pedestrian crossings and curves in and out and around the trees throughout the park.

"Other enhancements will include picnic facilities, footpaths, landscaping and additional parking.

"The improvements will be accessible to people of all physical abilities."

Construction started on 19 October and is scheduled to be completed by 15 December (weather permitting).
