Popular Currimundi park’s new look unveiled

Local youth and families are already enjoying the results of the recently converted old netball courts at Grahame Stewart Park on Croydon Ave in Currimundi into a contemporary active and recreational community area.

Division 3 Councillor Keryn Jones said while the park’s facelift was only completed late last month, feedback, and usage, from the local community had already been extremely positive.

"Sunshine Coast Council consulted extensively with the local community to shape the design of the $134,339 revamped park," Cr Jones said.

"With community consultation showing strong support for the creation of the children’s cycling circuit to replace the disused and run down netball courts, it is not surprising that local residents have been quick to make good use of these new facilities.

"The new track is all about kids having fun while creating an awareness of road rules and conditions at the same time.

"It’s great to see the littlies really enjoying the new track that features interesting elements such as bridges, weaving poles and pedestrian crossings and curves in and out and around the trees throughout the park."

Other enhancements at the park include picnic facilities, footpaths and landscaping.
