Quad Park to build on solid foundations

The Quad Park Corporation (QPC) will build on the solid foundations established by two board members who’ve announced they’ll step down.

Mayor Bob Abbot has thanked retiring board members, Councillor Keryn Jones and John Kelly.

"They’ve both made outstanding contributions to the management of the Stockland Park Precinct – and I commend them on jobs well done," Cr Abbot said.

"In their three and half years on the board, the precinct has hosted many major sporting and cultural events – and who could forget the recent Cold Chisel concert?

"The departures and a planned review of the current interim governance arrangements of the QPC provide the perfect opportunity to build on these early successes."

Cr Jones, who chaired the board, has decided to stand down to concentrate on her council business.

She said she was proud of the significant progress which has been made during her time on the board.

"I have enjoyed seeing the commitment shown by the board which resulted in a world class facility, sound financial management and first class events," she said.

"As I approach the final few months of my term as a Councillor I think it is time to give someone else a go at this important position.

"I wish my fellow board members the very best for the future."

Mr Kelly has also decided to step down as Managing Director of Stockland Park after several years of outstanding service.

Under his leadership the precinct has become the region’s premier sporting venue.

Senior Events and Operations Coordinator Simon Ball has been appointed as Acting General Manager of Stockland Park from 1 January 2012.
