‘Ravaged innocence’ author shares her story
  • Saturday 10 August 2013

Sunshine Coast Council invites the community to join local author Durelle Dean speak about her book Ravaged Innocence at Caloundra Library this August.

Ravaged Innocence is a moving and heartfelt story of Durelle's early life, set in rural New Zealand from 1939 to 1959.

Now a resident of Caloundra, Durelle says of her childhood, "I had to walk over broken glass just to survive, but I never told anyone.”

Abandoned by both their parents at a young age, Durelle and her siblings were left alone to survive in a tiny farmhouse, but they did more than survive.

Durelle, who wrote the book at aged 60, is an overcomer and an encourager and hopes readers will be inspired.
