Rave reviews for new roof

The Caloundra Events Centre has long been the entertainment venue of choice on the Sunshine Coast, but the facility has also been plagued by a long standing problem – a leaky roof. That problem is now fixed.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said a comprehensive refurbishment of the Events Centre roof had recently been completed.

“The Events Centre roof has had problems with leakage for over 20 years,” he said.

“An investigation into the cause revealed  two major issues. The angle of the roof was too flat and with the guttering not up to current standards and water was found to be seeping through the exterior brickwork.

“A new roof has now been constructed over the top of the existing roof, with the appropriate angle and the main gutters have also been replaced.”

Cr Dwyer said the $700,000 works has greatly improved the functionality and comfort within the centre.

“With this new roof in place it will enable the internal appearance of the Events Centre to be upgraded to meet a more contemporary industry standard and subsequently build its reputation as the peak performance and convention facility on the Sunshine Coast .”

The Events Centre provides the community with a diverse range of entertainment options and has recently launched an entertainment program that features over 30 performances in the coming months, including eight international acts. Last year the Centre hosted over 400 events including 116 stage performances.

Future rave reviews will no doubt include the flood of talent that is on its way to Caloundra.
