Rescue facilities on the horizon

A 20 year lease was granted to the Caloundra Volunteer Coastguard at yesterday’s Sunshine Coast Council Ordinary Meeting.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said that the lease is a good outcome for the community and the Caloundra Coast Guard.

"Council can now proceed with the construction of the coastal pathway in this scenic area finalising the Coastal Path link," Councillor Dwyer said.

"The Caloundra Volunteer Coastguard can now pursue plans to develop a pontoon and air dock to suit their operations.

"The security of tenure means that the Coastguard can invest in infrastructure that will improve the functionality of their operations which ultimately gives them capacity that they have not had in the past.

"It is a mutually beneficial outcome for both organisations and an excellent result for the community."

The land to be leased is situated off Tripcony Lane in Caloundra.
