The Coast’s first ever Community Plan took a major step forward this weekend, as council began to survey residents on what they thought were the biggest issues facing the Region.
Corporate Planning and Performance Portfolio Councillor Tim Dwyer said that the Community Plan will identify the long term vision, aspirations and priorities for this community into 2030.
“Over the past few years, council has gathered extensive feedback about what residents want, think and feel on certain issues,” Cr Dwyer said.
“The purpose of this survey is to ensure the accuracy of our information, fill a few gaps in our knowledge, and importantly do it before we develop the Community Plan.
“The results of the research will be discussed at a community conference in October.
“Council is required to develop a community plan under the new Local Government Act but ultimately the Community Plan is the people’s plan and a roadmap to our future.
“If you receive a call in the next few weeks from a research company asking about the Sunshine Coast Community Plan, please take the opportunity to share your thoughts.
“It is our place and our future and your opinion really does count.”
