Safer cycling for kids at Noosaville State School

Cycling to school is about to get safer for Noosaville State School kids as Sunshine Coast Council starts construction of cycle lanes either side of Beckmans Road from 22 November.

Council will construct 1.5m cycle lanes either side of this busy Road including green line markings, which signal areas of potential vehicle cycle conflict, between St Andrews Drive and Sea Eagle Drive.

The project also includes the reseal of Beckmans Road with the majority of this work scheduled to take place at night and outside peak traffic periods to minimise disruption.

Cr Russell Green said that if the weather holds, the project should be completed before Christmas.

"That means that when the kids come back after the holidays, they’ll have a safer route to school and all residents will be able to safely access key destinations off Beckmans Road," Cr Green said.

"We want to get the job done quickly, but we’re aware this is a busy road and will avoid disrupting traffic flows at peak times."

The project is jointly funded by Sunshine Coast Council and the Queensland State Government through their Principal Cycle Network funding grants program.

Council is committed to providing both on and off road cycle facilities that give everyone the chance to enjoy a healthy active lifestyle safely.
