Santa’s helpers will trial the bus service to Sunshine Coast Airport, as they start many hours of work stockpiling gifts for Santa to collect with the arrival of his SANTA 1 flight direct from the North Pole on Christmas Eve.
Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager Peter Pallot said airport staff are thrilled to be able to assist in preparing for Santa’s arrival.
“This is a very busy time for the elves as they prepare for Santa’s visit to homes on the Sunshine Coast,” Peter Pallot said.
“We are also delighted that for the first time, this year the elves can make use of the bus service right to the airport’s front door.
“Airport staff have also spent a lot of time polishing the runway lights to ensure Santa’s safe and swift arrival and departure.
“We have negotiated special arrangements with the Air Traffic controllers to grant Santa clear airspace over the entire Sunshine Coast so he can complete his deliveries on time.
“It’s one of his biggest visits in Australia so it is important that we adequately prepare for his brief stay and provide as much assistance as possible to make his trip as easy as possible,” Mr Pallot said.
“We have been told that once Santa’s elves finish all their hard work, they intend to relax and fully enjoy the Sunshine Coast making full use of the free holiday bus services from Boxing Day to 9 January.
