The good news for mums and dads these summer school holidays is there are more than 140 fun school holiday activities to choose from to entertain kids at Sunshine Coast Council’s libraries and galleries across the Coast.
The activities cater for all ages – there is literally something for everyone! With a great range of programs to choose from including kid’s mystery nights, annual Christmas parties and you can even help catch the culprit by solving the baffling case of the crook who took the book.
Children can even learn how to make their own fairy and gnome houses or, by using recycled materials and a hot glue gun, make their very own Steam Punk Jewellery out of pre-loved materials.
Kids are invited to put on their detective caps and join in the national Summer Reading Club program to investigate mysteries, hunt down clues and become masters of disguise. Activities explore common themes in stories including mystery, intrigue, puzzle, suspense, deduction and adventure.
Teens aged 13 to 18 don’t miss out on the fun either. They can get locked in one of five libraries across the Coast to find the clues and complete the challenges to become The Hunter and save the world from the Zombie apocalypse.
For those children who want to discover their creative talents, Caloundra Regional Gallery, Noosa Regional Gallery and the Butter Factory Arts Centre are running a range of ArtsCool workshops encouraging children to explore their creative talents.
We encourage families to take advantage of these fun-filled activities to entertain the children throughout the coming holidays. These programs are sure to be popular so book early to avoid disappointment.
