Sealing the deal on Sports Road
  • Friday 05 December 2014

Sunshine Coast Council is committed to improving the road infrastructure networks across the region. As part of this commitment, work will soon begin to widen and seal Sports Road at Bli Bli.

Division 9 Councillor Stephen Robinson said the sealed roadway would include two sealed traffic lanes with 0.5m sealed road shoulders.

“Sports Road is currently part of Council’s unsealed gravel road network however its relatively high usage justifies that it be sealed,” he said.

“Sealing Sports Road will also make better financial sense in the long term because it will reduce council’s ongoing costs to repair and grade the gravel surface.”

Preparation works will start on December 15 and include the relocation of Telstra services outside of the project footprint in the west side of the road. These works are expected to take one week to complete (weather permitting). Construction and sealing works are scheduled to start in February 2015.
