Sunshine Coast Council’s Development Indicators Report provides an in-depth look into development activity on the Coast.
Strategy and Planning Portfolio Councillor Russell Green said the Development Indicators Report is released every quarter and includes a comprehensive summary of development activity on the Sunshine Coast.
"The report profiles the volume of development and contains information on town planning, subdivision, building and construction activity," Councillor Green said.
"The total number of development applications lodged in the second quarter of 2012 was 2,902 which is up from 2,477 in the first quarter.
"The several types of development applications that council receives and assesses include reconfiguring lots, material change of use, operational works, plans for subdivision, plumbing and building applications."
Councillor Green said the estimated value of building applications lodged in the second quarter is over $188 million.
"The five main types of development applications lodged in the first six months of 2012 have all increased in number. Engineering and construction applications have increased the most significantly from 14 in January up to 50 in June," he said.
"The number of lots released to the public on average are trending upwards which indicates that more land for housing has been made available to build on.
"In the second quarter there were four major subdivisions of over 50 lots each in Yaroomba, Woombye and two in Maroochydore.
"The final pages of the Indicators Report highlight a number of applications of general interest about development activity locally.
"Development applications that have been approved or are still in progress reflect that the Sunshine Coast is continuing to attract a diverse range of new businesses, major activities and community interest developments."
The Development Indicators Report is available every quarter on council’s website. For enquiries regarding planning applications call 5475 7526 or 5475 PLAN.
