If you or your kids would like to share ideas about a new beginners’ area for the Coolum Skate Park, head to Tickle Park on Saturday, June 4 from 2-4pm.
Council is seeking input from beginner skaters, BMXers and scooter riders on what specific elements should be included in the new section and where it should be located within the park.
Following this on-site Have Your Say Day, people will also be able to provide input by completing a survey online or at Coolum Library before June 20.
Division 9 Councillor Steve Robinson said council would also like to upgrade the existing skate park.
“We encourage the community to help us decide the best location for the beginners’ skate park and tell us what skate elements it should include,” Cr Robinson said.
“Upgrading the existing park and adding a small beginners’ section will make the skate park more suitable for a wider group of users.
“It’s also important the new area is positioned in the right spot so everyone can continue to enjoy the wider Tickle Park.
“The upgrade may also include a safety barrier between the skate park and car park, seating, improved lighting and new signage.”
Feedback from the community will be used to design the new beginners skate area.
Upgrading the Coolum Skate Park will help cater to the recreational needs of our community, as identified in the Sunshine Coast Skate and BMX Plan 2011-2020.
