Sister city ceramic secrets revealed
  • Monday 08 November 2010

Have you ever wondered why ceramic art from China is second to none?

Those secrets will be revealed at a Sunshine Coast Sister Cities Association workshop in Buderim on 16 November.

Sunshine Coast Sister Cities Association Chair, Councillor Jenny McKay said Landsborough artist Johanna DeMaine would pass on new found knowledge of ceramics from her recent studies at Jingdezhen University in China, which was part of a travelling scholarship provided by the Sister City committee.

"Johanna will share her experiences from the Jingdezhen University that is regarded as the world capital of porcelain," she said.

"Sunshine Coast Council supports initiatives of the SCSCA through our community partnerships funding program. Such programs give local residents the opportunity to broaden their horizons and to learn new skills used in other countries – in this case China."

Johanna De Maine’s ceramic workshop will be held at the Buderim Craft Cottage on 16 November from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
