Soulless Western delivers laughs straight from the Adelaide Fringe Festival

Sunshine Coast Council presents Sound & Fury’s Doc Faustus direct from the United States, via the 2013 Adelaide Fringe Festival, on a whirlwind national tour at The J Noosa on Saturday 30 March at 7:30pm.

Patrick Hercamp, Richard Maritzer and Ryan Adam Wells make up Sound & Fury, a vaudeville-nouveau troupe that performs this twisted American Wild West adaptation of Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus.

Hercamp plays the renowned Doc Faustus as a clueless dude, who dabbles in dark magic just to play tricks on people. By selling his soul to the devil, he gets a demon (Mephistopheles, played by Maritzer) to do his bidding for the next 24 years.

The extent of their parody on both Doctor Faustus and the Western movie genre knows no bounds. They treat the story with a great deal of intelligence, consciously calling their interpretation of the West ‘revisionist history,’ but filling every other moment with both witticisms and vulgarity.

Sound & Fury’s latest offering is bound to have fans rolling in the aisles and picking their jaws up off the ground. Organise a group today and book early to avoid disappointment.

Cost to attend is just $25 for adults, $20 concession and groups of eight or more and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office located at 60 Noosa Drive Noosa Heads, by calling The J on 5455 4455, or online. Please note, this show is not recommended for those under 15 years.
