International contact centre specialist Stellar has announced it will be taking on additional customer service specialists as it further expands its service here on the Sunshine Coast.
Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said he welcomed the great news.
“In addition to the 190 jobs Stellar planned for when it first announced its intention to open here, the company is now anticipating having a local workforce of just over 280 by the end of May,” he said.
“Clearly, Stellar’s establishment here has been excellent for the company, and it is certainly excellent news for jobs in the region.
“Part of council’s economic development strategy to diversify the jobs market has been to attract the professional services sector to the region, and the arrival of Stellar in employment terms has been, well, stellar, as far as that is concerned.”
Stellar arrived on the Coast late last year and began recruiting staff in October - however increased business flowing through its Maroochy Boulevard offices has resulted in a need for more staff.
Stellar Account Executive Kaitlyn Akers said since arriving, the company has made every effort to utilise local companies and traders in accessing supplies and services, stimulating even further employment growth indirectly.
“In addition, we have employed local companies to handle things like office cleaning and catering and equipment,” she said.
“The council and the people of the Sunshine Coast have made us feel very welcome and are contributing to our success, so we are more than happy to be returning the compliment and sharing the benefits in a sustainable way.
“We are now fully operational and conducting business, in addition we are busy recruiting the additional staff we need.”
Stellar has 15 years’ experience in providing customer-focused contact centre solutions for its clients and employs some 4000 people across the globe.
