Sunshine Coast seniors set to take centre stage
  • Wednesday 01 October 2008

Seniors from all over the Sunshine Coast will be parading their talents tomorrow at the open auditions of the third season of popular talent quest, Senior Superstar.

Auditions are being held on Wednesday 1 October (International Day of Older Persons) from 10am – 2pm at Living Choice Kawana Island Retirement Village.

Expect to see an unlimited variety of performances. If last year was anything to go by, acts will range from all-female tapping troupes, comedians, singers, banjo, ukulele, harmonica and barrel organ players, duos, trios, jazz bands and maybe the reappearance of the Bavarian trio featuring the tuba, accordion and a bell ringing performer!

This year the program has been expanded across the region to include heats in Caloundra, Nambour, Noosa and Maroochydore, with the grand final taking place on Sunday 16 November at the Caloundra RSL.

The prizes in the Senior Superstar competition reflect the quest's focus on 'fun' - they include hampers of goodies, a car service voucher, shopping vouchers, CD pressing and biography printing, market vouchers and flowers, with the eventual winner to receive the impressive Senior Superstar trophy.
