“I want in!” That’s the overwhelming response to the Sweetest Job Campaign that is offering 6000+ ready-to-go jobs on strawberry farms across the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Shire region.

Economic Development Portfolio Councillor Stephen Robinson said an information session would be held at Lake Kawana Community Centre from 10am to midday tomorrow to cater for the overwhelming interest from job seekers.

“The aim of the Sweetest Job campaign is to increase the number of local employees returning for work on strawberry farms each year rather than relying a backpacker ‘one season only’ workforce,” Cr Robinson said.

“In little over a week since the campaign launched well over 1,000 people have registered interest on the Sweetest Job campaign website.”

“We’re expecting a very large turnout to tomorrow’s information session, where job seekers will have the opportunity to meet strawberry growers, learn about the types of roles available on strawberry farms and find out information about working and pay conditions.”

Media is invited to attend tomorrow’s information session for photograph and interview opportunities.

Sunshine Coast Council has partnered with Moreton Bay Regional Council,  Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay, Growcom, the Queensland Strawberry Growers Association and the Food and Agribusiness Network to deliver The Sweetest Job campaign, a project powered by The JobShow.
