Take an innovative look at our cultural heritage
  • Friday 02 May 2008

Digitisation of the Nambour Chronicle and a virtual and interactive look at a historic house are just two of the innovative sessions included in an upcoming cultural heritage forum the new Sunshine Coast Regional Council will host at the Crown Plaza, Pelican Waters on 14 and 15 May.

Sunshine Coast Regional Council Mayor Bob Abbot encourages interested community members to book early for this pertinent and informative program, as places are limited.

“Council embraces the significance of the conservation of the Coast’s heritage,” Bob said.

“Initiatives such as this forum give members of the community the chance to learn more about a variety of initiatives we as a region are undertaking to conserve our valuable heritage.”

Building on the success of last year’s forum, this year sees a two-day event with twelve guest speakers on day one and a coach tour on day two. The tour includes stops at Eumundi, Pomona and Mary Cairncross Park and will have a cultural heritage commentary. Both days represent excellent value, kicking off at 8.30am and wrapping up around 4.00pm. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included at the very reasonable cost of $25 per day.

People interested in attending the forum should register by no later than Friday 9 May by telephoning 5420 8299.
