Become a technology trendsetter and expand your digital world at Maleny Library's new TechBar.

Sunshine Coast Council Community Programs Portfolio and Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay joined the community for morning tea and a chance to ‘test drive’ the latest technology at the launch of Maleny Library’s new TechBar.

“The Techbar provides an opportunity for the public to discover how to use a range of technology including iPads, Macbook, PC, Samsung Galaxy, Windows Surface and eReader devices which will be available for experimentation and play,” Cr McKay said.
“You can check out the differences between the devices and familiarise yourself with the different operating systems and decide which one suits you best before buying.

“Our staff will be on hand to assist you with the devices and morning tea will be served.

“The tablets will also be used by staff to demonstrate access to the eLibrary and libraries extensive range of online products that includes eBooks, eAudio, eMagazine, music and films.

“The public can register to attend demonstrations in November which will provide an opportunity to learn some tech basics, compare computers and tablets and discover eLibrary resources.”

Joanna Rickards, Maleny Flexible Learning Community school teacher said her students are regular users of Maleny Library.

“They love to use the spaces to chill out, and network with friends,” she said.

“The library is a great place to be creative and it will be the perfect environment for our students to use the new technology to extend their creativity into the online world.”

This project has received financial assistance from the Queensland Government through State Library of Queensland.
