Thanks for the memories

Great news for residents and visitors as Sunshine Coast Council completes works on the historic Eumundi Memorial Drive pathway.

An important corner stone of the Eumundi community, Memorial Drive is a tribute to those fallen in WWII. Newly positioned remembrance trees and an amphitheatre complete this historic hub.

A new coloured concrete pathway and steps in keeping with the existing brick paving provides improved access to the area.

Division 10 Councillor Paul Tatton said the Anzac Day committee lobbied council for this access way and he is delighted to be able to deliver.

“It is never ‘just a pathway’ to those that use it,” Cr Tatton said.

“The amphitheatre area is used for ceremonies such as Anzac Day; and ensuring safe access to this sacred area is a key community issue.

“By maintaining the style of existing Eumundi infrastructure, the pathway blends in perfectly, and completes the area.

“It is not just residents who benefit; the thousands of visitors Eumundi receives each market day can now safely and easily traverse the area surrounding the market square,” Cr Tatton said.

The project included construction of a new pathway along Memorial Drive and connecting pathways and steps to join existing paved areas. Landscaping with native plants completes the project.
