Sunshine Coast Airport is delighted to announce a fantastic coup for the Sunshine Coast with Tiger Airways confirming it will hold its November Board meeting on the Sunshine Coast on Friday 21 November.
Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager Peter Pallot said this meeting will be the first time the airline has held a Board meeting and Strategic Planning Workshop outside their headquarters in Singapore and will be the first visit to the Sunshine Coast for most of the attendees.
“This is great news for the region’s aviation and tourism industries as we prepare to celebrate the first anniversary of Tiger’s commencement of flights from Melbourne into the Sunshine Coast and it is a great opportunity for us to showcase the Region with our tourism partners.
“It’s fair to say that the region has really embraced Australia’s newest low cost airline and Tiger Airways has been thrilled with the success of the Melbourne - Sunshine Coast route.
“Over the past year almost 17,000 visitors have flown into the Region on Tiger and I am certain the success of this route has resulted in Tiger’s recent decision to increase its 3 weekly flights to a daily service from mid December,” he said.
Mr Pallot said he was expecting as many as 19 members of the Singapore and Melbourne based Tiger Airways Board and Senior Management team including Australian Managing Director Shelley Roberts and CEO Tony Davis to attend the meeting.
“Tony and Shelley are a very formidable part of Tiger’s executive and are widely respected both nationally and internationally in the aviation industry. Their vast experience has seen Tiger Airways significantly expand their reach into the increasingly competitive South East Asian travel market.
“Whilst on the Coast, the Board will also meet a number of key industry stakeholders and sample some of what our region has to offer,” Mr Pallot said.
