The Sunshine Coast Council Australia Day Awards provide an opportunity to publicly recognise and honour the achievements of local citizens who have made an outstanding contribution to the region.

But time is running out to make sure these people, who are our local heroes, are recognised for the difference they make to life on the Sunshine Coast.

If you know a person, community group or organisation worthy of an award; nominate them now in one of the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year - sponsored by Seven Local News
  • Young Citizen of the Year - sponsored by University of the Sunshine Coast
  • Senior Citizen of the Year - sponsored by Maroochy RSL
  • Community -Group or Organisation - sponsored by Sunshine Coast Daily
  • Creative - sponsored by TAFE Queensland East Coast
  • Environment - sponsored by Living Smart
  • Sport and Recreation - sponsored by Sunshine Coast Sports Federation

Nominations close at 5pm on December 11. Entry kits can be downloaded from council’s website or collected from customer service centres and libraries. Award recipients will be announced at the eighth annual Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards Ceremony on Monday, January 25, 2016. The event will include performances by local musicians, special guest speakers and the presentation of awards by Mayor Mark Jamieson.
