Time is running out to nominate for new Transport group
  • Wednesday 22 October 2008

Time is running out for Sunshine Coast community representative and individuals wanting to help shape transport in the region as part of a new Transport Community Group with nominations closing next week.

Sunshine Coast Council Integrated Transport Systems portfolio holder, Councillor Vivien Griffin, said council is calling for nominations from community organisations, industry, development and individuals to help guide council policies and strategic direction on integrated transport systems for the region.

The group will provide the region with a mechanism to raise community views and needs in relation to our transport issues. It will also act as a sounding board and an ideas bank for finding solutions and providing feedback.

“This feedback will give council a platform to clearly articulate community expectations in policy, project and service outcomes within our own transport related projects and those of State and Federal Governments,” Cr Griffin said.

The group will include about 15 people and a selection process will be undertaken to ensure a broad range of community interests are represented.

For a full information kit on the Transport Community Group including nomination forms visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or contact council’s customer service centre on 5420 8200.

Nominations close Wednesday 29 October 2008 at 4.30pm.
