Transformations at Butter Factory Arts Centre
  • Tuesday 09 October 2012

Sunshine Coast Council officially opens Transformations, a mixed media painting and sculpture exhibition, by three local artists at the Butter Factory Arts Centre at 6pm on Friday 12 October 2012.

Transformations explores the notion of transformation and includes figurative sculptures by Jane Welsh that depict human emotion and our ability to transform through these experiences. Victoria Fitzpatrick’s paintings grapple with the concept of transformation through symbolic and spiritual connections common to the human experience. Through her abstract work Kym Barrett contemplates life and its process of continual transformation, connecting outer landscape fragments to an inner, personal landscape.

The community are invited to join in a free exhibition guided tour and morning tea at 10am on Friday 19 October and book their place in the following workshops:

Expressive Painting:

Drawing from the Heart with Kym Barrett

Saturday 27 October, 9am to 4pm

Portraits with Acrylic

Glazing with Victoria Fitzpatrick

Saturday 3 November, 9am to 3.30pm

The cost for the workshop sessions is just $55 per person and bookings and pre-payment are essential by visiting council’s gallery website or by calling 5454 9050.

Transformations will be on display at the Butter Factory Arts Centre from 12 October to 1 December 2012 and is open free to the public, Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
