Unleash your inner cartoonist
  • Thursday 09 July 2009

School children aged between eight and 12 are invited to unleash their inner creativity at the Unhinged Cartoon Workshops being held at the Butter Factory Arts Centre at Cooroy from Thursday 16 July.

Between 3.30pm and 5pm Thursday afternoons, participants will explore and develop their drawing skills, create their own cartoon stories, ideas and characters and have fun in the process.

Workshops are run by Andrew Tomlins and cost $15 per session.

Andrew has a formal qualification in landscape architecture and town planning, however his varied background in drawing and illustration ranges from doing very boring architectural perspectives to illustrating children’s books to creating large whacky oil and pastel paintings with a cartooning style.

“I’m inspired by the world around me and find that cartooning and art in general is one of the best ways to express a view, to interpret events/situations and to find the humour in life, even in difficult times,” says Andrew.
