Workshop: Just another Layer: An Introduction to Overglaze Decorating for Clay workers

Tutor: Johanna De Maine

Date: Saturday 25 June

Time: 10am to 4pm

Cost: $65

This workshop is a big draw-card for the gallery with tutor, Johanna DeMaine one of Australia's foremost ceramic artists whose professional ceramic practice has spanned over 39 years.

Johanna’s aim is to provide a framework of understanding for ceramists so that overglaze can be accepted as a valid technique within the craft/art, whatever the influences.

Johanna will demonstrate and facilitate on commercial glazed tiles the basics of the following overglaze techniques: lustre; overglaze colours using water based mediums; penwork; enamels; textures; and decals.

Workshop: Exploring Mixed Media

Tutor: Noel Thomas

Date: Tuesday 14 June

Time: 10am to 3pm

Cost: $40Popular local artist and tutor Noel Thomas will lead a workshop exploring the creative possibilities of mixed media.

This workshop is suitable for artists up to intermediate level who already have some experience in painting and drawing and would like to reach out and challenge their creativity through the use of mixed media.

Students will develop work which is a blend of realism and abstraction using acrylics and collage and layering transparent and opaque papers and washes as the basic structure. Exciting textures and patterns will be created using papers, gold leaf, inks, charcoal, gesso, oil pastels and whatever medium gets the result you are striving for.
