Wheels in motion for Glenview Road remedy

Safer travel for both commuters and pedestrians is a driving force behind Sunshine Coast Council’s planned upgrades to Glenview Road.

Designs are being drafted for a 2.5km stretch of Glenview Road, from the end of the path west of Glenview Primary School to Tolson Road. Division 1 Councillor Anna Grosskreutz said the works would aim to improve road alignment for vehicle safety as well as the extension of the path to the west, away from the school for pedestrian safety and access for students.

"Council plans to begin works in the 2011/12 financial year and continue road upgrades and footpath works in stages over subsequent budget years," she said.

"There are a number of issues to consider on Glenview Road including the relocation of public utility services, vegetation disturbance, road and drainage upgrades and possible land impacts."

"As we get further into the detail design we expect to consult with local landholders and the community."

Council will also conduct a review to determine if the current limits on Glenview Road are suitable or require a reduction.
