Whether you’re after birds, bees, butterflies, frogs, or other wildlife for all the tips head to Sunshine Coast Council’s Living Backyard Display at this year’s Queensland Garden Expo at the Nambour Showgrounds from July 8 – 10.

Environment Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said council’s vibrant and diverse Living Backyard Display was sure to inspire, delight and inform even the most inexperienced wildlife gardener.

“This year’s display will show you everything you need to know about creating a biodiverse environment in your own backyard,” Cr McKay said.

“We will have experts on hand who can teach you about preserving and enhancing the native flora and fauna in our community.”

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said there would also be a range of exhibitors at the display with a wealth of knowledge about backyard nature conservation.

“I encourage any budding living backyard enthusiast to come and check out the many diverse exhibitors including: Barung Landcare Nursery, Birdlife Sunshine Coast, Bob the Beeman, Coolum Community Native Nursery, Earthling Enterprises, Native Plants Sunshine Coast, One Earth, QLD Frog Society, Wildlife Volunteers Association and Witjuti Grub Bush Foods Nursery,” Cr Rogerson said.

“Over the course of the three days, a number of insightful information sessions will take you through every aspect involved in creating a living background from converting your pool into a backyard billabong and living with reptiles to identifying toxic weeds, controlling feral animals and bringing back beautiful butterflies.”
